    Default HK93 Retractable Stocks

I have a new in box HK93 1979 “HK” date code. It is the HK93A2 with the fixed stock. The guy I bought it from also acquired a retractable stock for the rifle. It is the concave A3 stock. Is this the correct retractable stock for a 1979 HK93 or should it have been a convex A3 stock?

When I refer to convex this is the type stock I am talking about.

this is my A3 stock. Inside the date code area is “IS”

I thought early stocks were concave, you know, to facilitate launching grenades. I think convex is a 'newer' thing

The top A3 stock (convex) is correct--- the lower A3 stock (concave) is newer (IS = 95)!!!

To my understanding, the HK 93 stocks were convex and the HK33/53 stocks then came concave similar to MP5 stocks. The 33/53 also have a longer length of pull. So the support arms are longer. Which fill the gap in the rail grooves better. However, the MP5 stock will work in a pinch.

I couldn’t decide which stock to put on my 53 so I have both. Personally, I like the convex more just because it’s not as common to see.
