I believe the reason the photo shows a 'date taken' value of 1-6-17 is that contrary to digital photos which have many or all of the metadata values embedded in the file (date taken, resolution, camera, etc), scanned photos tend to none or only a few values embedded, and one I've seen scanning old photos is that the 'date taken' value represents the date the photo was scanned. This seems to me to be a photo from the early 90's that was scanned/digitized well after the fact.
Digital cameras didn't hit the mainstream until the late 90's, so most or all of the photos taken during this conflict would have been on film.
Sooo, Tony you saying you had a full head of hair in the 90s? LOL.
Spitfyr, even if it is an original picture he still has to find when it was first published or the photographer. Because as is it is labeled as a 2017 image. If he can trace it back to its source, or photographer then it would be gold.
Kadir has a lot of soldier shots, some from earlier eras, Might be worthwhile to try to contact them and see what info on the shot they might have. There were a number of good images, Gulf war, vietnam, etc. No rhyme or reason besides soldiers. Some great HK porn mixed in.

Hello and hallo,
I've done my due diligence and have supplied proper sources per your endeavor.
The kicker: United Nations Protective Forces were heavily involved in the conflict, and included 28 extra-territorial forces in the conflict (Primarily France).
Of note, elements of Pakistan, Malaysia, Turkey, Indonesia, and the United Kingdom were present.
All of which fielded an HK 33 in some capacity.
I hope this puts you and your friend in the correct direction.
