    Still running fine, too.

I asked a couple of grunts at the POE with FX-05's whether they missed their G3's, and they said, "Nope." Guess they were tired of 9 1/2 lb rifles with a significant recoil.

I bet their "Fire Serpent" rifles won't be functional in 30 years, though.

I've never seen them ever there. Nor in any of the cartel shootout photos we get daily: You see federal, state, local and military are always carrying M4's.

At the borders, its always the young, new boots carrying (Struggling?) the G3's. They look like they're right out of high school.

It was maybe two years ago that I stopped seeing the G3's at the San Ysidro POE. I believe they are members of an infantry battalion stationed in Tijuana, and they always have the FX-05's now. I posted it in the Swedish Chef Mexico section at the time.

I also see them south of the Otay Mesa POE, where they drive around in their Hummers with mounted HK21's. Pretty cool. But always with the fire serpent rifles now. Most of them are of small stature and they don't seem to miss the G3's.

The naval infantry and some specialty units always historically had the M4's and M16A2's. Not sure how that works, but they must have their own supply chain. I've never seen them with G3's. The Navy going with AR's could have had something to do with the subsidized cost of Colt M4's and FN M16A2's from the U.S. and also with the German Gov't labeling certain states in Mexico as conflict zones and refusing to allow arms to be shipped there.

As far as colors, I have seen the darker OD green on German, Norwegian and Danish G3s, lighter green on guns going to tropical countries (don't know exactly which ones though) and Pakistan's rifles appeared to have varying shades of lighter green furniture on them.

They, or someone (POF?), should import all the non-black polymer stuff available, including the slimline foregrips, which are kind of sought after over here.

If the price was reasonable, they'd sell all they brought over.

Chasing this furniture is fun, but also borders on frustrating, can't wait to find a vented wide front!

I agree! People would eat that furniture up. I'm surprised it hasn't been done yet.
