Default VP70M - Differences and Models

I posted this question in the Heads Up area when the VP70M was for sale at Auction.

The model shown in the auction is a different "ergonomic" type grip than the later and more common version.

Anyone know anything about the VP70M Machine pistol? Variations, numbers made and numbers brought into the US?

    (Asking for a Friend) ;)

As far as I know the only ones in Country are SOT only guns no pre 1986 as per thouse not a 100 on what models etc as few if any were brought in I would guess

As to the civilian guns the only two I know are either the one we know of the semi auto only no shoulder stock cut model ..There were also a few brought in 9x21 that were Italy market guns that from what I understand cut for the shoulder stock or at least had the marks to mount it ..Though the gun would work in full auto even with the stock as my understanding

I have both the 9X19 and the 9X21 VP70Z and they both do not have the stock cutouts but both have the outline for the stock cutouts on the polymer lower. I understand there where only 400 9X21s brought in to the US.

Not a VP70Z conversation nor did I mention the 9x21 pistol, looking for any HK insight on the M version only. The true Machine Gun.

Sorry if I wasn't too clear.

Well, maybe they aren't that rare after all.

    Different slide machining, too. Interesting.

I had the chance to shoot one of the two transferable VP70M's (according to the owner) at our annual MG shoot this past weekend. The rate of fire is insanely fast, somewhere along the lines of 2200 RPM. I guess that's why there's only a semi and 3 round burst mode.

Yep, it's a fun gun to shoot.

I have heard 1 or 2, maybe 3 Transferable guns, looking for an HK Guru that might know.

Mainly interested in the Pre-86 numbers.

If someone had a box or a manual or a sling or a holster/belt piece it would be interesting to discuss...oh wait is that an ad? Disregard that
