    Default Ammo in HK21e/MM21e

What is good/great ammo vs. bad ammo in the 21e weapons. Looking to purchase several k/rounds of .308 ammo.

I bought some Federal Lake City 308 tracer from Target Sports and it ran great in my 91 full auto at the big sandy. Lights up big and bright during the day and is 2016 (i think) head stamp.

You can also buy linked 308 from the same place if you want to rest your linking machine

I figure you can't go wrong with LC 308, but it's spendy for sure.

I only run steel case and have done so for 10+ years. Probably past 100k in both weapons

it doesn't ruin extractors, it as accurate as surplus, runs perfectly, and its cheaper than anything else

Barnaul is the best, then wolf, wont touch tula.

Brass cased ammo is a waste when at the range.

Agree^^^ I use wolf exclusively. Barrels dont like the bi metal bullets but if you are shooting ALOT it doesn't matter. Over 70k rounds in my 23e. Can still hit targets over 100 yards out with a smooth bore barrel. Rounds hit sideways like a mofo
Spent most of my tax return on Hk parts, booze and ammo....the rest I just wasted

Just shot mine Saturday. Maybe 500 rounds or so. My MM23E runs most reliably with 62 gr green tip lake city brass. I used to run steel and crap ammo thru it but stopped. I did have a couple reloads of crappy brass case-separate. I'm done running crappy ammo thru mine. Plus the barrels are dang expensive. I now shoot only brass thru it and preferably good factory stuff.

Here's a fresh vid. in fact

a lot of the steel crap is underpowered, in theory it doesnt extract as well, bimetal projos harder on expensive barrels...and Ive had bad mojo occur with crap steel on some of my other beltfeds..specifically my M60. The first belt of wolfe or Monarch steel I ran in it cost me a locked up bolt requiring its (the bolt, not the gun) sacrifice and milling from the top to break it loose. And upon investigation others have had this happen to them on 60's. Plus the MM23E is a expensive host- the most expensive host of them all kinda.... why feed it turd.

And yes the 62gr seems to run mo' betta . But it eats steel too...used to. But as I said I no longer

Hey I love cheap steel ammo....and I try all my MGs with it (some to my detriment like that 60 story) but the brass universally runs better for me in all of them really. Steel cases dont expand and shrink as much as brass - which the guns (many) were developed to shoot in the first place .

My AUG chokes on steel. big time. Brass it loves. Go figure.

So overall...its just life experiences for me I guess. No steel in my beltfeds except for my 1919 which is 54R and I've already burned thru 2 barrels on it.
