Do you have a recommended way of opening the gas port?

In other words, one needs to open the barrel gas port to take full advantage of the adjustable gas block. In my opinion, even the 1.4/1.6 needs a wider difference when running suppressed on a 10.4 as the 1.4 setting is overgassed even with a low back pressure suppressor like the Socom.

I had ADCO do my barrel work before sending it to WMD for QPQ refinishing inside and out.

I just used a local machinist friend, with a mill, the correct size bit, and instructions not to go too deep ;)

Just like he says ^^^^, I actually recommend putting a cleaning rod in the barrel, just to protect , in case the bit goes a little too deep.

If you use a machineshop, they will already have them.

For 14-16 inch barrels, you can get one of the 11" handguards with the cutout for $200 for the next couple of days at Brownells. I got mine yesterday and it was in great condition, only a couple of small dings. I haven't seen any other places selling the 9" handguards with the cutout.
