Default 416 10.4" and Adjustable Gas Block

Hoping to get some feedback before i make a decision.

So i have a non-vented gas block on my 10.4" 416 and i recently acquired some hk adjustable gas blocks.
I am considering switching mine out to take advantage of suppressed and unsupressed mode.

Does anyone run their 10.4" with one? How does it work? Is it worth it?

What was all involved with the switch out?

Drive out pins, switch block with new pins. Your barrel should have a 1.6mm port. I'm putting mine on tomorrow, Thursday is range night

Ive been wondering as well. so the adjustable vented gas blocks sold by HB and HK Specialist were designed to work with a NON VENTED factory 10.4" upper? Or is it designed to work with the factory VENTED uppers? I thought modification was needed to the barrel port for this to work

I read through that thread a while back. I took that the vented adjustable gas block would work correctly on a factory VENTED 10.4" upper. But if you had a NON VENTED factory 10.4" upper then you had to open the port on the barrel to 1.6mm

I'm not supre experienced in opening the gas port up. So would i just use something like a 1.6mm drill bit in a press? How would i knock the burs out from the inside of the barrel?

And it's the gas block that is vented. The ones I have are a 1mm vent, just like a vented 10" gb

Neglecting to open the barrel gas port to 1.6mm essentially mean your 1.4/1.6 adjustable gas block will work as a 1.5/1.6 gas block instead. In other words, one needs to open the barrel gas port to take full advantage of the adjustable gas block. In my opinion, even the 1.4/1.6 needs a wider difference when running suppressed on a 10.4 as the 1.4 setting is overgassed even with a low back pressure suppressor like the Socom.
