And here I thought that the 13" SCAR 17 barrel at $1K was a tough pill to swallow!
Get an SP5k when you can, they are worth it and FAR superior to any Turkish or American made clone (save for DT). The BT route is a good route, their parts/guns are of superb quality. My .02

I should get my SP89 to MP5K back from Mike at TSC this week. I’ll post pix. He did the following
    Remarked MP5K
Cut and reprofile 94 barrel to MP5K spec
    Paddle mag release install
    Refinish

Drive out price was about $1600.00

I think I remember seeing a complete MP5k demil'd kit with an asking price of more like $10,000 if I recall. Last year.

Out of curiosity, what are genuine unfired HK MP5K 3 lug and threaded barrels worth? I used one and have two others that I do not plan on selling. How unicorn are they? I knew they were rare and that's why I kept them, and will not sell them, but how rare are they? Just curious since this was being asked here.

What the heck?! They have gone up that much?! Or was that a fluke?

I'm sure you've already seen this, but why not get one of these? To me this is basically as real as it gets, and it's only $399.

Slightly off topic, but how does one confirm that they have an original mp5k-pdw barrel? I think mine is original but what markings should I be looking for to confirm? I seem to recall minimal markings on mine. Barrel is ostensibly from a NIB mp5k-pdw that I had cut up for parts about 15 years ago - cost then was like $2500 for everything but the center receiver section.
    Thanks,
    Joe

Why do people buy the Sp5k and want to pull the barrel? The Sp5k/sp89 is a great gun but not necessarily the best to suppress. Consider getting a full size mke or have it sent to RDTS and make it an SD instead.

Can't put a suppressor on it. Or even make it look like you can.

ETA: I guess you answered your own question
