Default Purchasing first MP5, appreciate guidance

Hello, I’ve been a long time reader, first time post. I am in the process of purchasing an mp5. It has a Fleming sear, but other than that I don’t know it’s history. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to get history from the previous owner. I know this is a broad question to ask, but what steps can I take to start the process of identifying the origins of the host mp5 that carries this sear? This is a big personal purchase for me, and I’m willing to do the work/research to figure out the history; being pointed in the general direction to start this task would be much appreciated. Thank you for help in advance.

Welcome to the site--- if you mean the manufacturer, then the host serial number would be pretty definitive!!!

Looks like it started its life as an sp89... it’s current configuration is in the mp5k-pdw format.

The serial number of the SP89 will be 21-XXXXX--- if it has an original (HK) PDW barrel, then that is a huge plus!!!

By the markings--- you can search "PDW barrel" in the Advanced Search box (upper right)!!!

Seller is an intermediary for a firearm that was part of an estate sale. I knew the previous owner, who is now deceased. His family is not aware of the details of this particular firearm.

Around 85% of the value is the sear. What are they asking?

It is in line with what the google market is asking for that configuration.
