the main difference in the 21a1 and 21e is the shroud (21a1 shorter), feed mech and carrier as far as mixing parts and no forward assist on the 21a1

you can put a 21a1 carrier and feed mech in a 21e gun and vice versa, but you cannot mix/ 21e and 21a1 carriers and feed mech because the grove on the bottom of the carrier will not work with each.

21a1 moves the feed mech when the carrier is traveling forward. The 21e mech moves with rearward/forward- ie it pulls better since it takes half the energy.

I dont think you know what a 21a1 is do you?

btw this is the only tidbit about the 21a1

The HK 21A1 only had a few more improvements over the standard HK 21 but really nothing compared to the over-all improvements HK Germany made to the HK 21-E...
    and thats wrong

There is that 21a1 kit on the auction sight. You might like to look it over. A1 had the drop down feed mechanism. I noticed most of the parts were inscribed as 21a1 so I should think there are some finer differences as well. It appears the improved extractor and silent bolt closure were E1 upgrades. (I Have read reciever but have not seen any specs that would support that.

I have been trying to determine if the actual reciever is longer on the E1 or just the shroud assembly

that is Lamont's auction. I bought a 21a1 kit from him as well.
