"Most S&B is soft cheap thin brass" from a long time reloader buddy.

Hydrogen embrittlement comes to mind, it’s a term I would hear re cadmium plating Huey tail rotor drive shaft bearing hangers, I think I heard it once re Brasso and shining up cases.
With nickel plated brass I can see it, not sure how it might affect plain brass.
Probably a batch defect in the mfg process.

I also use the 9mm S&B brass cases for reloads, some have run 4 or 5 subsonic loads and still going strong.

Hoping to test this week with Sig factory 180 gr FMJ in hopes of confirming the weak S&B brass bring the issue.

I’d recommend a variety of brands, perhaps Prvi Partizan PPU.

I never had any issues with S&B or anything through my MP5/10.

I had issues with S&B, but nothing like you were seeing. I spoke with Ralph at RDTS, and he flat out said.....use Sig, as it's supposed to be
at 1250 FPS, and Sig does just that. After switching to Sig ammo, I've never had a problem since.

If you continue to have problems, I would strongly recommend contacting Ralph...….he is the Sh$T when it comes to the MP5 10MM....just my $.02
Good luck and keep us posted please.

I usually only load my own. I only purchased the S&B because I was out. My loads have always run pretty well. Just loaded up 8.0 gr of Power Pistol with Precision Delta 180 FMJ to also test.

Update: Tested the Sig 180 FMJ last night. Zero split cases! Note: I’m still having FTE’s even with the Sig though.

If you still have some 10mm from the same S&B lot, find someone else with an MP5/10 and see if they get split cases.

I've ran about 500rds of S&B 10mm in my DT 10mm with a MM barrel and no splitting issues. I don't have the lot # handy at the moment. I have had some issues with Underwood 10mm splitting cases in the middle and having to remove the front half from the chamber. Sig 10mm 180gr w/ HI locking piece has been my go to for a few thousand rounds without a hitch

Suds: I wish I knew of another MP5-10 owner near me.
