Export laws maybe? Why did they attack Russia in the dead of winter? Why do they have a fetish for producing the weirdest porn in the world? Who knows really.
i am betting export laws remember they have to make the system non military and sporterized so no paddle just like on the 91,93and 94 all semi auto and no paddles on them too

HK exports semi auto civilian guns with paddle mag releases all over the world. It's not export laws.

So just to be clear you no longer can buy a sp5k and the self install paddle mag release and install it yourself without dremmeling a stop block out of your german receiver, that's just stupid the first upgrade you need is the paddle mag release.

Thank you HKBlackham for pioneering this. Have you noticed any reliability issues from this modification? Being in the magwell, I can't imagine it posing a functionality problem, except with magazine exchanges. Does this part serve any other purpose than to give us frustration with the paddle release? I'm looking to use this as a home defense gun, so reliability is important to me.

Interesting update, anybody else know about new Sp5k's marked BK that don't have this? Maybe the shop took it out, being aware of this problem?

Also, if anybody has one of the older ones, could you post a picture of your magwell so that buyers looking at Sp5k's can know the difference?

From the research I've done, SP5k's marked BI and BH do not have this block and the paddle release can be easily installed. Those that are stamped BK, with exception to bauerdb's, have the block in them that needs to be drilled out. More info here on stamping:

EDIT: I'm seeing BG stamps on gunbroker, any info on SP5k's stamped BG?

they dont need to be drilled out, its just a metal bar in place of pushpin and bushing or whatever its called on the military counterpart. I dont see any reason why it would affect functionality being removed. if it concerns you, just put a mag release in place or have one installed by a smith
