Just cut the length you need, wash it with soap and water to remove the powder residue, and slip it over the grip.

This also might get me flamed, but I recall when my USP was new many years ago, the back strap was quite sharp and would make my hand sore. After many years of use, the points aren't as sharp. A very, very light sanding of the back strap with some very fine sand paper or emery cloth could knock the sharp edges off and not affect the stipling or appearance.
Winner!! An old bicycle tube can be a highly versatile piece of equipment. Need more grip.... Need less abrasive texture.... Strapping down a tape switch.... Slapping that annoying SOB just out of arms reach....

What size bike inner tube are you guys using?

I think I read somewhere to use one for a 10 speed but I bought this one and it looks WAY too skinny. It's maybe an inch wide when folded flat.

It doesn't have to be exact but something like a mountain bike tube, BMX, etc?

So I got a sheet of Talon Grips rubberized for a little over $10 shipped and had enough for two grips. I heated it up with a hair dryer and it fits like a glove.

I put a set of Talon grips on my FNS9C after my first range trip with it. It was way too aggressive, and tore both of our hands up in no time. After putting on the grips, there have been zero issues; I highly recommend them.
