I'm intrigued with the ergonomics of the P30 but the USP has that classic look HK is so well known for

Welcome to the forum. You could just cut to the chase and get a MARK 23. If you want a 9mm and something collectable (you talked about passing it down), then I would suggest a P7M13.
If "Dirty Harry" had been made in 1996:
"I know what you're thinking: 'Did he fire twelve shots or only eleven?' Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement, I've kinda lost track myself. But being this is a HK MARK 23, the only offensive handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel lucky?' Well, do ya, punk?"

Thanks for the warm welcome Callahan,

    Hmm... MARK 23 = BFG

I could kick myself for not buying that squeeze cocker thingy in 1983 when I bought a Colt Combat Commander instead, back then they were about $485 at Ray's in Dallas... second thought I should have gotten a dozen... oh well hind sight as they say.

My younger brother and I were at the Market Hall gun show early (90's) in Dallas I remember handling that monster then... what an impressive piece of craftsmanship and engineering...

Another vote for the P7 series! They are truly unique, and one of best and safest CCW options available.
