Default New to me USP .45 with "rare" DAO variant; convert to V1?

    Hi All,

First HK handgun purchase. Was listed as a "rare" DAO variant on GB.
LE trade-in in very good shape; KH date code.

It has the left-side control lever which works as a safety; but I can also move it
to "decock" and it will spring back, but has no other effect. Has a regular non-bobbed
hammer and there *is* a sear in place.

Could this be a V1 that was converted to DAO?

I'd like to go back to V1; or possibly to LEM.

Looking for advice on conversion parts, and info on what, if anything I should think
    about replacing in a '97 USP .45.

    Thanks in advance!

    Reiney

If it has a sear, it's not a DAO.

    Sounds like a V9.

ETA: Post a close-up pic of the hammer group and the detent plate on the left side of the frame.

From the look of it, it is a V1, which is a regular DA/SA.

Keep the slide off, just like the pics. Now cock the hammer back. Does it stay back? Then activate the decocker. Does it decock?

Nope. The hammer will not stay cocked. Could it be a V1 that someone just stuck a V9 detent plate in?

There is no V9 Detent Plate, but rather a V5+6 Detent Plate. If it was a V9, then the plate would say 5+6 on the left and it would not let you push down on the control lever like you described in your original post. Yours says 1+2 = V1+2 (on pic #2).

What is the chance that the previous owner swapped the DA/SA sear with a LEM sear?

I have no knowledge about prior owners; other than it's a former LEO hangun; possibly from Texas.

What would an LEM sear-swap get you? Is that the easiest way to go from DA/SA to DAO without having
to do the whole LEM kit?
