    I had that happen to my 1911, took it out of the safe and I might as well have used elmers glue. It was all gummy, orange, and just nasty. All my Fireclean went in the trash after that.

    CLP or Hoppes 9 for me. Nothing fancy, they just work.

    I've used WD-40 on everything from shotguns to, pistols to MGs, and it's never failed me. I guess you can use that vegetable oil, sorry FC instead.

    I don't use either...just making a comparison. I don't say what I actually use...never will because people get weird about this stuff...case in point.

    CLP has the best scent/smell. I'm surprised no one has develop it into a cologne.

    Lucas Oil Extreme Duty gun oil. Use it on everything that goes bang.
