Default $34K+ HK G3 3/62 Golden State on Gun Broker - Why so Expensive?

    Just Courious.
Is this gun really worth the 34K+ Price?
I have no intention on buying it, but was wondering why it is so expensive.

What makes it so special.. just because it a semi-auto G3?

The original first year HK41s had swing down lowers too and I had never seen one sell for anything close to that much?

That's the cleanest looking magwell for a 40+ year old G3 semi I've ever seen.

Agreed... Great example. But I'm with hkfanman regarding the price...?

Hopefully, the seller didn't shove that Cetme mag into it? Furniture isn't original, s/n on buttstock plate doesn't match the receiver and lower. Not tire kicking here...just observations.

Last one sold for 32.5K about a year ago. Not a bad realized price for a 3 day auction and no video promotions.

It is in the league of the "G" FAL rifle. A legal, no-NFA-needed machinegun. Hence the value-added price for a real collectable.

They let them in before the tech division figured out it was capable of select fire with no real modifications, but once in it was too late to 'repossess' them.

And as to the Santa Fe HK41's, they did have a mag release and pushpin hole, but a set of welded on tabs precluded one from slipping on a SEF trigger housing...so no FA capability as found on the early '62 rifles.

Why, you asked? Because people are their own worse enemies and there's likely someone out there with more money than brains that will buy it.
I don't "run" my guns or "run" anything on them. Likewise, none of my guns are "platforms". I hold them up, not the other way around.

I've seen a total of 5 different serial numbered 3/62 G3's sold in the last 8-9 years. One was a conversion on the NFA registry. Two changed hands a second time during that period. They are essentially in the same category as the FAL G-series, just 100's of times rarer. In the world of rare firearms, many lesser ones command higher prices.

So wait a minute. I'm confused, is this FA? Or just capable if you slip in a sear?

And looks like they found that person with more money than brains. Sold for approx $34k.

Deal is they are some of the first german guns to come in and came in before the 1968 FA import ban ..Yes they are semi auto but internal very close to FA guns ie having like the FAL as noted FA parts or can use them easily ..They also have the launcher rings etc etc on them ..

And they are CA legal till the end of DEC while a HK91 is not ...
