Default Seems as if HK Has Gone Missing Lately

Am I just ignorant (You really don't have to answer that!), or has HK gone to sleep the last year or two?

They aren't playing in the new caliber/new cartridge rifle and machine gun contracts for the military.
They didn't play in the USA pistol choices, altho I think the "modularity" bit is a crock, and they should have been able to submit the VP9. It strikes me as much quicker and easier to change pistols for different purposes than to take one apart and move this and that into another frame.
They haven't started importing or building VP9Ls here, which would be good sellers as was the P30L (I bought one.)

Does anybody have a clue? Or is it just me?

May be complete BS, but a New England HK sales rep recently told me to expect a single stack pistol in 2019. I donít put lots of weight on these rumors, but who knows, maybe he knows something.

I think HK has always played the latest, greatest game.
They've come up with some really weird sh*t, way ahead of demand. E.g VP70, OICW.
But we do know they are always playing for new bids/contracts,
    MK23, XM8, France's 416's, USMC M27's, CSASS, etc...

It seems to me that when you want something from HK there is always a wait associated with what you are looking for.

Maybe that makes it so much more enjoyable when you finally find what you want.

There is a lot of truth to that. There is a certain odd pleasure in scarcity and that is part of the HK experience.

It could be that they are just at capacity. HK isn't used to selling guns in the volume that the VP9 popularity has demanded.

Rumor or not, this helps in my P365 decision process. I think SIG is close to getting it right but I’m still giving them more time to make sure. IF HK is working on a SS for 2019, it makes the wait all that much easier. The P365’s capacity will be something HK will need to address or it will not do well, however.

I kind of think the opposite about HK. They seem to be playing catch-up these days. Yeah, they were early in with the polymer frame VP70, but it really didn’t go anywhere. Glock really popularized it, and by the time HK came out with the USP, a number of companies had already jumped on the polymer craze. They were also one of the last to offer a striker fired pistol, and still haven’t come out with a compact single stack pistol, which almost everyone else has.

A single stack pistol will not be competition for the P365.
