It’s a good sign that you could admit to your own pretentiousness.

I'm SBRing my SP5 and have a question about which stock to install? My two choices are the classic look of a collapsible stock or the B&T UMP style side folder, and a part of me says, why not both? My concern with the collapsible stock, will the aluminum rails leave scratch marks, along the receiver? Thank you

It’s really a matter of personal taste. The collapsing stock is more compact and looks cool, but not that comfortable to shoot. Although I have an A3 stock for my SBR, I use the A2 stock the most often when shooting.

My concern is will the collapsible stock, scratch up the receiver, when retract or extended?

No, the rails themselves will get most of the wear when they move against the end cap of the stock. That’s my experience.

No they won't. Just make sure you buy an H&K for a proper fit. I find the A3F stock to be my favorite, it's perfectly comfortable for me in 9mm and I like the longer LOP the F buttpad offers.

As a person who owns, a2, a3, B&T, etc stocks, I find the A2 and B&T MUCH more comfortable to shoot than the A3.

Agreed A2 is the most comfortable, best cheek weld. The B&T is a close second and adds the utility of a folder. So it's the best overall choice, only my opinion of course.
