That is such a cool gun. It looks like the evolutionary missing link between the MP5 and the MP7.

SMG II is so cool, I would love to see a HK smg in production with that velocity changing tech incorporated. That ROF of 1k is crazy fast. I also love evolution of the lower with BHO and the incorporated magwell. To me its so neat that they chose a K length rather than the full size to evolve the smg concept. The stock also shows and reinforces not unsurprisingly that compact PDW size weapons ala the SMG/SMG2, MP7 etc. need ultra compact stock designs as well as why 3rd party offerings like the old flemming k folder and sliders like the safety harbor exist for the K size mp5k/sp5k.

The only small things missing on this gun to make it current are:

    1) a 3 lug rather than the threaded barrel or at least an threaded adapter to make that conversion possible.
    2) a top pic rail system rather than stanag mount system
    3) an ambi lever mag release system more like that of the G36
    4) reversible low pro charging lever rather than the old school knob style.
    5) make the front grip handle removable with pic rail so it take other grips or accessories

If HK wanted to it could make this gun in polymer like the ump but I am a fan of and like steel or alum construction myself.

I am on the fence about this but while they are at it why no tool it up for easier production ala the cz scorpion i.e. cast the shell in two parts/halves so its easier and more cost effective to manufacture and fix in the event of breakage/wear/configuration etc.

Really cool review. This showed HK was/is really ahead of its time compared to their peers.
