Default Who do you insure your HK collection with?

I've gotten to the point where regardless of my vault and security measures in place I feel like I need insurance for my collection as well. Who do you all use? These guys appear to be the most affordable for the amount of insurance I'm looking for, but I'd like to hear first hand experience from other collectors, especially if you've ever had to file a claim on a policy.

My homeowners has a rider attached for them. It is a Personal Articles Policy no different than say jewelry or antiques. I'd price that first. They did not have a monetary limit for coverage.

I checked with my homeowners carrier (State Farm) about a year ago and I want to say it was around $15 per $1000 annually. Seemed entirely excessive.

SIAI is 12.50 i I think. I might have a look at a sample policy from your agent and compare the details to others. Me personally I like dealing with a local agent that I have a relationship with.

I use Eastern Insurance. About $40K of coverage for about $140 per year; IIRC, a bit of a discount for former military, etc. As an aside, if you are an NRA member, you are eligible for $2.5K of coverage at no cost, however, you must apply for the coverage.

In a long discussion of this topic in another forum, one of the common replies from insurance industry members was to buy an Inland Marine Policy. Apparently you can insure almost anything under that kind of policy and coverage exclusions are few. I never checked into these policies.
My opinion's as worthy as one from any other doddering old grampa you have never met or heard of.

    Talk to her...

Unfortunately, the policy has to be renewed every eight to twelve years.
