    Default What's your opinion?

My training courses historically have crammed a week of MP5 training into a single day. Though folks were satisfied, my thinking now, is that times have changed, and that a more immersive user experience is called for. I've been thinking two day, with the morning of the first day being classroom with a powerpoint on some HK history, how the MP5 came to be, and a more comprehensive look at the whats and whys for as much as possible, prior to suiting up and slinging lead.

In the future, I definitely would like to add armorer courses, for those of you who really want to get into the guts of the machine.

So, half day classroom, then 1.5 days of learning how to shoot the platform like the PROs!

So, sound off! Love to hear your opinions!

Learning about the mechanics and theories of operation in a classroom would be ok. I would not spend much time on the history. Maybe just provide a reading list (up front) for home study if someone is interested in that; it’s easy enough to enjoy from the couch. Also, consider the NRA’s Whittington Center as a venue.

For me its the time lost. I would do a full work week for training, but travelling and being able to get the time off would be my biggest hurdles.

My question is, from an operator's point of view, how much difference is there between an MP5 and a 53/51?
Would the training still be of value with rifle caliber firearms? Or, would those be better addressed in separate training courses?

I would love to attend, however, time off for work becomes an issue.
I think some classroom training would be mandatory And greatly need, especially if its weapon specific.
What ever curriculum you decide on, I would still like to attend.

If this is a 2 day course, plan to start both days in the classroom for around 2 hours. This allows for flexibility for weather. Also, cover weapon breakdown, cleaning, and sling utilization.

I agree. Some classroom time is probably essential, just need to keep it proportionally limited if we are looking at only two days. I would be in favor of it being three days and having some history and armorer time as well and then two full days of range time.

Good input. For this first course, I am planning on two days, four hours classroom first day, and the rest range time. No armorer this time, but am planning to do that with James Williamson from Teufelshund Tactical handling that aspect of it, down the road.

I already have a powerpoint presentation under development that includes MP5 history and development, as well as the cursed sling, and taking more time to articulate stance and correct shooting position, as well.

As for weather, no worries there, because it's an indoor range. :)

Getting close to locking it down. Hope to have pricing agreement in place this week, and announce dates. The range prefers an August class, so if COVID cooperates, we should be manufacturing once-fired brass by late summer!
