Thanks for the link to the video. Interesting conversation.

I freely admit that my initial interest in the MARK 23 was because it was used by the Navy Seals. However, since I held one in my hand and fired it, my love for the pistol is based on what it is and what it does. It is arguably the most over-engineered, reliable, and accurate pistol out of the box.

I love it, others hate it. Personally, I'm grateful to those who don't like the MARK 23. Imagine how expensive they would be if everybody wanted one.
If "Dirty Harry" had been made in 1996:
"I know what you're thinking: 'Did he fire twelve shots or only eleven?' Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement, I've kinda lost track myself. But being this is a HK MARK 23, the only offensive handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel lucky?' Well, do ya, punk?"

Have some buddys who just hate the issued M9. Sounds like the guys in the video like the 45 just want it in a smaller package. Also really interesting to hear the Scar 17 get an endorsement
    over the vaunted SR25.

A big thanks to Crashmc for the heads up. I was not even looking for a second Mark 23. I bid right after I read his heads up and let it ride. Did not even know I won until I got the e mail from GB.

G3Kurz has it correct. The procurement process can be maddening, especially when you mix a wee bit of unrealistic deadlines, egos, and ***tty leadership who can make the most strangest decisions to burnish their creds. Sadly, this happens quite often in the military.
