Anyhow, a sealed bullet casing will fire just fine.

Oxygen is already present in cartidge case. That's why modern amunition (with nitro powders) doesn't have cases full of propelant. This amount of air is enought for reaction. That's also why it's dangerouns to have too little powder and too much air in case, as this can end in detonation instead of burn of propelant and excessive pressure. Modern cartridges (especially military ones) are sealed and waterproof (of course to some extent, but nobody expects to shoot ammo that was for year on 1000ft depth).

On the other hand black powder have source of oxygen within powder itself. That's why it explodes so easily, even with mechanical (kinetical) ignitions. When you load black powder weapon no air is required between load and bullet.

    Default is this necessary

ok, so im no "operator" unless its on humans, but is it really necessary to fire underwater? the test was certainly rigged a bit as they didnt allow drainage anyway. yes hk fired underwater, great, fantastic, but im never gonna pay 3500 buck for an ar15. well at least not yet.

Of course not. It merely shows the outer limits of the platform. I posted on M4Carbine.net, and guys over there are pissed, and commenting that when they need to defend their bathtubs/hot tubs, they'll pick a 416.

Bad me for posting over there.

Yeah, I never understood why people get all pissed over stuff like this. It's like you were talking trash on their mothers or something.

I love it when new firearms come out and welcome any improvements, even if they are small. I don't jump off the handle about the new stuff not being necessary just because I don't have it.

I love my standard AR15...always will, but I don't feel upset because there may be something better out there.
