Happened to see this ad. Notice poster at the bottom.
Heckler and Koch HK MR556A1 - 5.56x45 Semi-Automatic - International Distributor of the Finest Firearms

Edit....poster has been removed....it said that the MR556 was OTB. Perhaps someone pointed out to them that it is not.

I have at 14.5" AF and 10.4" AH. The chamber face on the 10.4" AH has much less bevel that the 14.5" AF does. I took pictures of both, but the picture of the 10.4" AH does not show well of how much less bevel. You can see where the bevel appears as lighter color in the picture, and in the pictures it look like much more beveled than it really is due to the coloring. This being said, I don't know if it is OTB or not. It would be kinda cool if it was though. Maybe someone can tell me more from the pictures.

Thanks for posting, I can't see any differences between either of those, or mine. Then again could be the light like you said, or my untrained eyes. I'm starting to think this chamber is one of those old wives tells!

Please, somebody post a pic with maybe something like arrows pointing out the difference between the two! I would love to see! It would be very educational for the board too I think.

I agree it is very hard to distinguish in the pictures, but with the naked eye it is very obviously different. I will try to get them outside in the daylight to get some better pictures.

Since I joined this board I never bothered reading this thread and now that I have it has kind of brought sadness to my interest in a MR upper. But given some of the info here posted not being so confirming maybe one should wear the proper protection and give things a try to see just what would happen. I know LWRC has an add that shows a guy going in and out of the water using his rifle so maybe something with an MR should be cleared up by someone doing some testing in a private swimming pool or deep lake or some sort and report back to us.

    Why?

Did you just resurrect a perfectly straight-forward sticky because:
    A) You're trying to perpetuate yet another LWRC vs. HK fanboy argument
    B) You're some duffer just wanting to be told "which is more awesome?"
    C) You're necroposting here for the sake of a bad joke.

what's with that OTB obsession anyways???? Who the **** cares? Any firearm can be dipped in water pulled out, given a 10 second shake to drain the water out and be fired. Unless you are part of the VERY few who would actually need that feature it's such a non issue its laughable.

    Million dollar question:

Are our stub weld conversions, (G36 variant), over-the-beach capable? I don't see why they wouldn't be, but just curious! :-)

SL8 conversions? Nevermind OTB...most (including the smiths themselves) don't even recommend them for duty use.
