    Default Mr223a3 / hk416a5 muzzle break

    Hi guys,

First of all, I tried to search but did not found my answer. I ordered a mr223a3 in 14.5" and I want to know if the muzzle device share the same thread pitch than any common ar15.

    Thanks in advance

My understanding is yes. As an example, the MR556 definitely has 1/2 x 28 RH threads per in which is the standard . They should both be the same.

While you are correct in regards to the US MR556 variant, it is not advised that you assume it to be the same for the Euro MR223. Based on the international HK website, the MR223A3 appears to sport the proprietary HK flash hider (PN: 237016) in 15x1...which also fits the 243 and MR308. It's rather telling as the MR308 would not accept an AR 1/2x28 for logical safety reasons. Also, there are several members here with MR223A1's with the proprietary 15x1 HK threading.

In short, NO...it's 15x1 RH, not the 1/2x28 AR pitch.

Thanks for the correction. I can also confirm that my MR762 uses 15x1 as well.

It was my understanding that since the MR223/ 416 were supposed to be similar that they would match the M4 / M 16 standard and my MR 556 seemed to confirm this. It was also my understanding that the MR762 / MR308 / 417 used the same barrel device. My apologies for providing erroneous info.

MR223 series use M15x1 thread. I made a post about possible choices for MR223 muzzle devices on my blog some time ago: Montrala: AR15 muzzle device on HK MR223

Montrala, I read your blog and now it's very clear. Thanks. My dealer told me that there's an additional delay for the 14.5" so I'll get the 16.5" instead. I could also cut down the barrel to 14.5" and rethread it. In Canada, we don't have the nfa law regarding the sbr so it's all good.

I don't think you are aloud to do that in Canada, at least that is how it was explained to me by a gunsmith a while back(like 5 years ago). I have a MR223 16.5 but I prefer my 14.5 416 uppers most of the time, not a big deal. I would wait and get it in 14.5 though. Unless your shooting from the bench mostly. I'm tempted to pick up a new A3 but I think I will go the MR308 A3 with G28 kit route instead. I love my current MR308 though which I run as a battle rifle more or less.!.

I do like the PWS FSC91 which is M15x1. I installed it on my HKMR762A1-LRP and it really does a nice job on it. It is also aesthetically similar to the FSC556 variant on my FN SCAR.

I don't see why I could not. I don't want to wait 6+ months for the 14.5 and miss all the matches this summer.
