    Default New MR762A1 (key mod rail version) coming soon - please help with a low power scope -

    Hello All,

    I am picking up my second HK rifle next week - the new MR762A1 with the key mod style hand guard. I already have the new style MR556A1 so they will make a great pair.

    I only shoot indoors at a 50 yard range and it will remain so for the next few years. Nothing outdoors and nothing further than that because of present life situation.

    The new .308 rifle is coming with iron sights but I want to a put low power variable range scope on top which suits this very nice rifle well , but also does not overpower it since I'm only shooting at 50 yards.

    My .223 has 4x ACOG which I like but I don't want another ACOG. I am kindly asking the forum for suggestions. I have researched the following but since I have never owned a variable range scope before I am asking for help. Here is my present list:

    1. Trijicon VCOG, 1-6x24;
    2. Trijicon Accupoint. 1-6x24;
    3. Leupold VX-6 1-6x24mm (30mm) CDS Illuminated Reticle;
    4. Nightforce NXS™ 1-4×24 COMPACT RIFLESCOPE.

    I have the money set aside to pay for any of the above or any other suggestions in the $1500 - $2500 price range.

    In short I don't want to "cheap out" on a proper scope of which this excellent rifle deserves but I also want it best suited for a 50 yard indoor range.

    Thank you all very much for your input,

    GSY

    Do you really need a $1500-2500 scope to shoot 50 yards? It's definitely overpowered with a 6x scope and probably with a 4x too. This really isn't an HK question, it's a scope question.

    This, hands down for $1400 best $/performance.

    Lucky Ned Pepper: What is your intention, Rooster?
    Rooster Cogburn: I mean to kill you in one minute, Ned. Or see you hanged in Fort Smith at Judge Parker's convenience. Which will you have?

    Schmidt and Bender 3-27x56 is the only option.

    Anything else and it'll be your funeral.

    In all seriousness, I'd get a Night Force 3-15x50 NXS.
    At least future proof it some.

    The VCog is a 1-6x and doubles as a red dot at 1x

    Sad thing is, the 3-27x can't even outshine its older, "cheaper" 5-25x brother if you look at some of the results of the PRB independent tests. I've seen some listed down as low as $4200...with no takers :/.

    Agree with NF NXS or ATACR for precision, or the Razor 1-6x for battle rifle/dmr play. If you want top put in a few more C-notes, the Schmidt & Bender 1.5-8x26mm can be had for around $2800 if you know where to look, and it is a KILLER scope. Older 1.1-4x Short Dots can be had at the lower end of your budget (under $1800). However, the Razor HD is the smart play.

    For that distance, I'd rock iron sights. But I love iron sights.

    Congrats!

    Question, how long is the keymod hand guard???
