I shoot my MR762 to 1100 yards, and ive had 3 optics on it already with a 4th on the way. Currently its scope-less as my Nightforce 4-16x44 ATACR FFP is about 90 days out, but that will be the scope that stays on it as I can engage just about anything within reason. Prior to that, I had a Nightforce 2.5-10x32 that was also fantastic, but it just didn't allow for me to print nice little groups at 100 like I wanted to when I was doing my hand load development. After that was a Steiner 3-12x50 scope that was pretty much perfect other than the actual size of the scope, which the NF is now smaller with more magnification, however I could do anything with the 3-12, and also had a Leupold Mark 6 1-6, which is now on my Scar 17 SBR instead. Choose the scope that best fits your interests and actually suits your NEEDS, not necessarily your WANTS, unless you just want a show gun to sit on your desk and send pictures to friends. I have at least one of my rifles out once a week either doing load development for groups, and then hitting steel at extreme distances. The odds of me doing anything requiring the gun to fall off a cliff, enter battle under fire, or blend in with the environment are non existent, but I still trust Nightforce as not only the best built scope, but the best quality for the money with the ATACR series HD glass rivaling S&B (obviously opinions may differ), and durability being second to none with the best mechanics of all the scopes. The downside about a scope that durable (any of the higher end glass) is weight. If its a bipod gun, or a "for looks" gun to appreciate, then weight doesn't matter, but I have to hump my rifle in 1/2 mile to get to my spot, so some of the more durable scopes such as the Vortex Razor line, weighing in at near 3 lbs, were out of the question.

My LWRC REPR is wearing a Nightforce 5.25x56 ATACR scope and while the glass is absolutely amazing, its too large of a scope for a 16 inch 308 AR unless you want to pick the button at long distances you plan on hitting. Your eyes may vary, but I have no issue hitting a 16x20 torso at 1100 yards with a 10x scope so it sounds like for your setup, a 2.5-10x32 Nightforce (or 2.5-10x44 if you want more light), or a 3-18x44 Leupold Mark 6, which while lighter will also be less durable, or on the lesser price end, the Vortex PST 2.5-10x32 FFP is a FANTASTIC scope for half the price of the others. It may not take a 15 foot fall, but vortex will give you a new one regardless of the damage. Im personally a fan of the smaller objectives for a 16 inch gun though... if you want my vote on an all purpose 50-1000 yard capable scope, get the NF ATACR. Might be able to score a lightly used one on Snipers Hide if you don't want to pay new prices.

alternatively if youre never going to shoot past 500 yards, look at the Vortex Razor 1-6, its one of the highest regarded mid range optics available... great price, the best warranty, incredible glass, and has a bright red dot for 1x, and FFP reticle for 6x. I have the Leupold and its nice being a bit lighter, but also near twice the price.

I think it's currently the leader for the balance I'm looking to achieve with my first DMR. I'm glad someone else is in the same boat.

Minox recently "finished" the Premier 1-8 prototype. If I would be focusing on torso sized targets for mid range, that would be my #1 choice right now as it has a reddot at 1x and a full ffp reticle beyond that.
The G28 is more for cool factor, and pushing the platform once I hone my skills. I'm betting once I get a look at the price I might change my tune, but I do want a G28 clone pretty badly to be honest. We'll see how it shakes out, but there's also no sense in having something that expensive, and never able to use it to it's full potential.

Now a days I shoot almost all targets at 6 or 10 power max.

If it help Euro optic is having a killer sale on S&B's. I just bought one myself two nights ago.

How do you like the NF stuff? After reading what FenixMike said about the Nightforce 4-16x44 ATACR FFP I think it might be a contender for my inventory, even if it doesn't make it onto this MR762.

Thanks for putting that scope on my radar, I'll keep an eye on it as I push into some options. I'm also going to have multiple builds with long range setups, so I bet I'll have at least 1. I'm a buy one cry once kind of guy, so I like having quality I can count on, vs buying a bunch of things in search of maybe, just maybe finding something I like just a tad better than the last. I'm also with you on the overall setup of a rifle, I don't want certain things getting too big. I think this MR762 will be the slightly lighter DMR setup, while my G28 clone I have planned, or just buying an LRP and spec-ing it out to what I'd prefer will have a more aggressive glass setup. Both in size, and magnification.

I think 10x is where I should top it off for now, but having that ability to hit 16x isn't necessarily a bad deal either. So that's something to think on. I'm definitely set on the LR-17 for my bolt gun, but I think I'll give that nightforce a try. If, and more likely when I get one, I'll hit you up and let you know how I like it. To also be honest I was leaning hard on US Optics, but I've also been considering Nightforce options. I knew the SHV was out for my specific demands and applications, but the Nightforce 4-16x44 ATACR FFP looks like a real winner all the way around.

Thanks again, and I appreciate the thought placed into your response.

My .02 is, use whats comfortable for you and will give you the performance to do the type of job it was intended for. Good Luck Mang!
Thank you sir, once I get setup I might pick your brain some more. I'm getting deployed out of Texas, but I'm retiring here once I can, so maybe one day you can let me know some good shooting spots to run the guns out to range, and if you'd like to come with at some point. I'll bring the ammo.

I do not have an SB as I considered the now Minox labeled Premier Reticles superior to whats available from SB. But the overall setup is of course pretty much the same as there are only minor differences between this or that scope in that price and quality range.

I think one day I'll go full G28(Schmidt & Bender and all) with a second MR762 one day. But right now, I'm thinking of keeping this one relatively simple. I feel like a DMR has to be able to do close work, then push out as needed. I think the 10x will give me range, and the 1.8x won't make it debilitating if I have to go in close for some reason.

Now that said, I'm not opposed to running an LR-17 also, well my bank account is, but I'm not opposed to pushing the gun to it's absolute limits. I want bomb proof, clarity and capability.

Edit: I left this in gun gear for a few days with no real traffic so I'm moving it here for hopefully a little more love.
So you want one set up kinda like this?

NF are awesome. If you are in the Vegas area you can check mine out at the range. I just sold a NF but that was because it was a MOA scope and I'd prefer to stick to Mils.

That's exactly what I'm shooting for in my head. After doing some more digging the US Optics MR-10, Nightforce 4-16x42 ATACR FFP, and the Steiner T5Xi 3-15x50 are all I'm looking at.

How do you like your setup Sir? That profile, and simplicity is what I'm shooting for with my first MR762. Scope, bipod, sling, and call it a day.

I was on a project in Texas for the past 10 weeks, and I picked up my MR762, had it ordered over the summer after the club shooting. It was a key mod rail and I put in an Atlas bipod, Troy backups, Vickers sling, and a Nightforce ATACR 4-16x with a BoBro mount. Very nice shooter. Also got the regular quad rail as a backup.

I finished the project, put the gun back in storage, and flew back to New York. It's a great gun, I might put in a Giessele trigger.

I like it a lot. If I were to change anything I would go from MOA on the reticle and turrets and go MIL. But that is just my preference now that I have more shooting experience. Other than that, it really is an accurate setup. The glass is crystal clear and light transmission is excellent. I would put the optical clarity just about on par with either of my S&B's. Parallax adjustment seems to be pretty accurate for the range that you are shooting at. One of the nice things about the USO adjustment is the way you set your zero you can get it exact with a little patience. You aren't kind of stuck in between clicks when you zero. You use a set of allen wrenches to move the erector up and down rather than turning the turret and then adjusting the turret cap. Kinda hard to explain in a post but I think this vid from CSTactical shows it pretty well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uRruWk9eZpw

I have it in a Larue QD mount and the zoom ring on the scope just clears the Troy BUIS on the rear. As a matter of fact, I think I have another one of those mounts laying around at home that is not being used if you are interested and happen to want to go with the same setup. I had it on one of my MR556's but it had my S&B too far back for proper eye relief and I had to get a cantilever for it. It only got shot about ten times or so.

This post is one I made in the Range Report forum. Those targets were shot with that rifle and scope. It still applies: https://www.hkpro.com/forum/range-rep...ml#post1760464
