Default Take down and pivot pin replacement on mr762 question

    Good morning folks.
I have replaced the MR "tool required" take down and pivot pins on both of my MR556 rifles with Colt lpk pins, easy peasy and no loss of upper to lower tightness. I would like to do the same to my MR 762 but am unfamiliar with the size pins that are required to do that or where to buy them. Would take down and pivot pins designed for an AR10 work on the MR 762? Thank you for the info especially if you've done this yourself. I'd love to buy the ones HK actually uses on the HK 417 but have never seen them for sale.

The rear pin is the same mil-spec size as the MR556, so any AR-15 pin can be used as a replacement, including HK416 pins. The front pin (HK417) is available from GGW, an approved vendor:
Heckler & Koch Gehäuse Pin, Haltebolzen vorne HK417 German GunWorks

Was this a pain to do? I've been thinking about replacing them on my MR556 so i can push them through with my fingers instead of the tool

No. I replaced the pins on both my MR556 and MR762. It's the same as replacing the pins on a normal AR. If you are careful and have the right tools, like a thin pick, you can swap out the rear pin without removing the rear plate.

As noted, the HK417/MR762 takes a special pin at the front, which you can get from GGW.

Just received my MR762 today... yay!

But I immediately want to replace these takedown pins. So the rear one is a standard milspec... but the front is proprietary?! Anyone know of any other source besides GGW that stocks them?

This is the best mod you can do to your MR. Easy as hell too.

Find a Set of 417 pins, I thought there was someone who made a replacement set but I cannot seem to find again, maybe it was GGW I saw them on.

I absolutely hate these pins, would be amazing if somebody would make the front one third-party since GGW seem to be perpetually out of stock. I cannot stand how hard the front one is to get back into the gun, even with the tool.
