    Default RAL8000 cerekoting

So my wife is going to school to be a gunsmith. One of the things they’re getting graded on is cerekoting. So I had her pick up some RAL8000 so she can do my 416 upper(I have my 416 upper on my Daniel Defense tax stamped mk18 lower). Plus is that it’s free labor!! Has anyone else cerekoted there uppers and possibly lowers in RAL8000, if so post up som pics!! Thanks

    Pic of my set up

I like the colors she picked... I have two 416 uppers I need to have cerekoted. I have them stripped down, just haven't pulled the trigger on having them re-finished. I want one in RAL8, and the other I'm undecided. I have a RAL8 barrel, barrel nut, and flash hider for that one, as well as a Geissele RAL8 for-end for it. I have an OD-GREEN cerekoted lower that I thought the RAL upper would look cool on. That crimson red color has me super intrigued as well, but I don't know about a complete upper in red?

I'm a certified Cerakote applicator, if she is getting the factory training, kudo's , they are good people at Cerakote!, if not, a few "tips". Prep is the key, sandblasting aluminium is done at a much lower psi than steel, about 25-30, just "scuff" the surface don't remove the anodizing. After the blasting, handle with gloves, Cerakote needs to be applied "wet" on the surface, even strokes and about 2 complete passes should do it, the thicker the coat the more likely it is to "chip". Good Luck.

AK74 the wife built me, just got done parkerizing it. What’s funny is I build all the time and she’s been interested in it, so she decided she wanted to try it out. She’s living it!! Pretty much using all my tools and plus VA benefits are paying for it. She’s also working on a “Krink” and for her final grade is a precision rifle.

Thanks for the info, I’ll be sure to pass it along to her. She’s getting all the instruction from the gunsmithing course at a local technical schoo
