    Default MR762 Gas Block removal

I bought an adjustable gas block.
To remove the old gas block:
    - do i have to heat the block or pins up before I tap them out?
    - is there a given direction to tap them out (like left to right) ?

    Thanks

No need to heat anything up. Just punch out the two roll pins from either side. They’re roll pins (spring pins) and they’re not tapered, so direction doesn’t matter. Then just slide the gas block off of the barrel by hand.

I have a two sided puck that is specifically made to remove the 416 block. One side for removing one side for installing the pins. The pins are directional. I suspect the 417 is the same but I don't know. I am not positive but I believe the official procedure is specifically directional.

Pins are not tapered, direction doesn't matter. Whoever says otherwise has never seen any.

I have changed the gas block. Pins have a light tapper at both ends to make it easier to start them in the holes. Otherwise no tapper.
I drove am out from left to right and drove the new ones in the same way.
Gas block removal and installation was fairly easy. Removing the flash hider was a bitch :-(

Maybe it's not the pins that taper, but rather the holes. I don't know? I doubt they would make a directional specific tool for no reason.
