    Default HK416a3 adjustable gasblock questions

where did the hk416a3 adjustable gasblocks used in what service rifles and how did they do?
if I wanted to put a the adjustable gasblock on my hk416 short length upper do I have to anything special or watch out for?
is it better than the vented gasblocks? Has anyone used them and have any problems or anything positive to say about them?

IIRC, Norwegian military first edition AGB had issues with valve popping out. Second edition fixed issue. I have one going on my 10.5” barrel when it gets back from melonite treatment. I had the gas port of the barrel enlarged to 1.6mm. I have a vented 10” version too and will get around to trying it out at some point.

The first gen has a flat faced adjustment valve. Gen 2 has the narrow profile with allen head pocket. The tool that fits in the buttstock can be used to adjust.

I don’t know if it needs to be, but that is said to be the specification of the gas port size. I believe it is the same for the vented, non-adjustable 10.5”. I don’t magically know all of this. It is all on this site, but can be challenging to find.

The one on the right is the newest generation, which I have.

I just acquired the one on the left from RKSUSA and it was sold to me as a part number 230906 HK 416A3 Adjustable Gas block for $300. The image on their website for this part number shows a Gen 2. Did I get taken?

I don’t know what the HK part number is, but I do know the one on the right is the newest version. Either one should work fine. They both use the same spring and detent. The valve face is different. Somewhere on here is a thread about the Norwegian 416 and the issues they had with the weapons. The gas block was one listed issue, but I think it was just a maintenance deficiency.
