    That is the barrel nut. The previous quad rail covered the entire nut but the newer versions with the HKEY handguards do not.

    Mounted a Trijicon VCOG 1-6x24 with .308 BDC segmented circle reticle and put 100 rounds through it today. Once it was sighted in, I was getting just under 1 MOA with Federal 175 grain match ammo. IMO, that is all anyone can expect from a factory .308 piston semi-auto with factory ammo. I also have a Sig 716 G2 in 6.5 Creedmoor with an 18 inch barrel that is shooting .70 MOA with Hornady 147 grain ELD match ammo, but the 6.5 is a ballistically superior round, so I'm not complaining. I tend to think of the HK as more of a 600 yard battle rifle and the Sig as a 1000 yard SSR.

    I do not know what the "P" inside the square means, but my BC has the same "P" but mine is inside a triangle...

    I would love to know what the "P' stands for or means
