Yes, the buffer retainer would be held in place by the buffer extension tube... like a standard AR

The only thing drastically different in the lower is the buffer retaining pin and the roll-pin that secures it in place. Otherwise, "standard" fire control parts should work.

I talked to the rep they said standard AR kit works. Just some of the mags are not compatible. I am going with the Geissele mil-spec lower part kits.

make sure you get the Geissele fire control kit that is specifically for the 416/MR556, or be prepared to be disappointed...... do a search, there are many, many, many threads about people buying Geissele triggers (not the 416 specific), only to find out they will not operate the 416/MR556 carrier group.

    What @LCSO264 said.

    Geissele SSA-E doesn’t work

Understood. I just recalled the rep told me to get the Geissele 416 trigger specifically.

    Thanks!

I am surprised no one has mentioned this but the reason for the issue with the 416/mr556 carrier group is the firing pin safety on the carrier group itself. It is designed to prevent ignition out of battery.

Yeah I think all the MRs and HKs require the Geissele specific trigger, only the GSG9 clone uppers can use standard ar triggers.
