Everything on a weapon wears with use. But doubtful you will wear it out.
I have noticed a bit of wear on the notch where the charging handle latch clicks in on the upper. That made me wonder whether that notch is being worn out eventually?

I got my first 416 upper and also noticed this. But a buddy sent me a picture of his and he had the same wear spot. Seems to be usual with some use, if it’s the spot I think it is.
Edit: I’m referring to inside the upper receiver. Disregard.

Steel latch grabbing on aluminum receiver is normal, most of AR’s will have marks from charging handle some more some less if you just jerk ur handle without pressing it.

I have the same wear on my MR762A1.....I even swapped out the charging handle for a Geissele one and still get the same wear. After a year, I stopped worrying about it.
it wears off a bit of the black anodizing...but i do not think the aluminum will actually deteriorate. i have the same mark...i apply a dab of aluminum black once a year on that area...it doesn't work perfectly but just good enough for me.
