Default MODS Please CLOSE....Brownells 417 barrels, Iím barking at a possible non-issue

Need to check actual head space between bolt and chamber face.

    To sum it up:

HK extractor support kit stops the bolt from spinning. The bolt should spin freely in the gap.

The important issue is actual ďrealĒ head space gap (between bolt face and chamber face.

Lols like Iím barking about a possible non issue. heard back from a professional, im barking at a possible non-issue.

Looks like Iím barking about a possible non issue.

But their profiles seem to not be correct for AGBs.

    Closing thread....

I measured 20mm using a caliper. My battery was dead so it was a manual measurement with the caliper extension touching the barrel face and the caliper sitting on top of the extension.

"These barrels are produced exclusively for Brownells by PWS (Primary Weapon Systems)"

This from Brownells…...soooooo.......it's not HK/chrome lined

Doesn't Brownell's cover issues like this with warranty?
I've returned a few things without issues, but it wasn't a barrel.

If there's a clear issue though I'd expect them to make it right.

If they have a QC issue it’s probably more then my barrel. We need more data....

And warranty won’t necessarily get me a safe barrel, most likely just a refund. I don’t feel like shelling out $1000’s for a HK 417 barrel. I’ve done that before. I have a spare 762 but not sure of their actual life span potential.

But I do owe you an apology. I only saw your second sentence, which is pretty obnoxious, when I posted.

Appreciate the info on PWS. But we all purchased from Brownells so have to start there.
Maybe you should consider going back to drinking, or smoking crack or whatever. You've gotten quite up tight
in the last year. Just sayin....don't know what your issue is, but I'm kinda over it.

I was just offering info, and you decided to be an a$$hole …...again.

    So...."Lighten up Francis"

Just spoke with Brownells Tech Support, what a waste of time. they have no real specs on the design of their barrels, only length, width and wieght.

The guy had no desire to look into it further or send up the chain to be evaluated.

I did learn that they do absolutely no QC on their products as they com into the warehouse, not an a batch received basis, not at all. I was told that they trust that their manufacturer is making the product correctly.

The only way to see if they actually make barrels that will lock the bolt and be anywhere near the same head space as HK OEM 762 is to return and wait for another to be sent.

I was able to confirm general headspace with someone I know who has three 417 barrels with head space of .073, just like my 762.

I wish I had a way to measure bolt head space in this thing.

PS- by head space I probably should be calling it extension bolt space or extension depth.

They were a waste of time for me as well. They sent me to tech support. I explained the situation and the guy just forwarded me to returns. He didn't offer any help at all with specs. I complained when i got to returns and the lady in returns was working harder to try and figure out the problem than the tech support guy. She took me back to tech and the guy just said the barrel sounds out of spec. lol
