    Default Hk416 and the RAHG

    Hello,

Like many, I cloned my MR556 to that of the pictured UBL Hk416, that was involved in Operation Neptune Spear. The author of “No Easy Day”, claimed online that was his setup and the Hk416 in the book, had the factory quad rail. I remembered searching high and low, for the Remington RAHG, and finally getting one, at a reasonable price. My question, was there ever confirmation, the rifle in the original picture, was really used in the raid? I understand operators will change the configuration, of their weapon, to meet the demands of the mission. While I like the streamlined look of the RAHG, mounting accessories is can be limiting.

    Thank you

From what I remember, the guns in the "No Easy Day" book were the camo'd all digi-desert and the 416 had a quadrail. Author talked about having a 10.4 and 14.5" with the 14.5" being more set up as an SPR/DMR with a Nightforce (likely 2.5-10x24 Nav spec as being consistent with inventory of the day)

The "gun used to shoot UBL" is depicted as such:

Mind you, you can't always believe this stuff as media has depicted all the operators rocking the new quad NVG, but individual accounts say more than a few opt'd for their familiar dual-tube setup as not to break the rule of attempting to bring new (albeit useful) kit on an operation...

If you look up Rob O'Neill's pics; several have his gun configured with the OEM quadrail as well. Not to say it couldn't be with an RAHG later on.

Most post-2011 guns are often seen with Geissele's and a few RAHG's, but never much with quad rails.

Larry Vickers posted that same pic that dms16 flagged and stated that it was the gun that took out OBL. And it should be stored in the Smithsonian or something to that effect. Sounds like “proof” to me.

See post 1572 for other angle/view of the HK416.

I'm sure I've mentioned it a bunch of times here, but Vickers supposedly bartered for that BCG out of that gun and it has supposedly changed hands a few times.

    ....or so the legend goes.

Wow. I did not hear of that.

I would want the HK416 upper at the very least.

But beggars can’t be choosers. And a BCG is better than nothing!
