I’ve had 4000rds of Wolf Performance .308 ammo since 2008. The other day I shot my HK MR762 with 21 rounds of the Wolf Performance ammo. It was ok until the 22nd round. Not sure how the casing broke but it did. It took awhile to get the casing that jammed in the rifle out. Here’s a pic. I’m never shooting that stuff again. I’ll buy brass cased ammo only.

I always enjoy putting 87 octane through my Ferrari too, especially if I can get the cash discount price at the gas station.

Don’t be a smartass. I’ve had that ammo for awhile and just thought I’d shoot a little....

The question is...what are you going to do with the other 3978 rounds?

I have had wolf steel cases stuck in my AR-15 before, like many others have dealt with. I think a lot of AR's run fine with it. It's a bit hit or miss. I kept shooting the wolf stuff until I ran out. Never bought again. My AR at the time was a decent quality rock river arms, and I didn't feel terribly bad about it. Maybe find a cheap bolt action and do target practice with the rest? That's a lot of ammo though. Maybe an AK in 308? It should eat that **** up with no problem.

I couldn’t resist sorry, when people do dumbass things and predictable results occur it is hard not to have a bit of humor about it. Good thing no one was hurt.

I wonder if brass case ammunition ever suffers case head separation? Or is just steel cased?

Yes it does but, typically it's with low quality, older, out of spec ammunition or cases that have been subjected to multiple loadings where the brass is already stressed beyond it's limits. It sometimes also happens in firearms with rough, damaged, or extremely dirty chambers or excessive headspace, did I say excessive headspace? Yep! You get the same results from out of spec ammo, oh I already said that. Lol

If you're gonna shoot steel cased ammo use it in a gun that was designed for it. HK's were not.

I've had stuck (brass) cases in my MR762 before. Last time was with Fiocchi Match grade 175 smk. It can happen to any kind of ammo. Glad you got it out.
