Default RAHG installation issue on an MR556A1

I've got the "new" MR556A1 ltd ed in FDE. I bought the 14.5" RAHG handguard from eurooptic.com and it fits beautifully... but the stock handguard screw only threads into the HG about 1/4". Does anyone have any ideas? Does/did Remington supply their own HG screw?

To be clear; it's not binding on the barrel nut. Same issue when the HG is off the upper. *And* it only threads from the wrong side (to the tune of 1/4") not on the correct/ejection-side of the rifle.

The printing on the box reads:

    HANDGUARD 14.5"

Hi I had the identical issue with mine, it does go in, but at a slightly different angle?
I gently tapped the top of the screw with a plastic mallet to get it passed the wire keeper and from there is was smooth sailing. With the handguard OFF the rifle, you could also try wiggling it on too, off the rifle, just get it past the wire keeper.
Also lubed the screw holes and threads prior. Fits perfectly.

DUH. It was the wire keeper! Thanks Tiger, my friend!

Had the same problems as well; shoulder of the bolt would hang up on the wire retaining spring.

Friggin' dumb. I've got two MP5s (SP5, SP5K), a Dakota and Mk23. I've never traded HGs on a HK "AR" platform.

In ordered one of these and have a few questions.

During your install, did you have to dremel the factory sling guards off in order to get thebrail to fit?

Were you able to reuse your factory barrel nut? Or did you buy a new one?

Would you mind taking more pictures of the rail on the gun? The rail I received from eurooptic seems to not quite match the fde color on my 556
