Default Auction to Benefit Boulder Crest - A Tribute to Jim Schatz

Like others on this board, I had the privilege of getting to know and spend time with Jim Schatz (G3Kurz).
If you didn’t have the same blessing, check out A Tribute to Jim Schatz
to learn a bit about him. It was during two of the Gray Room Tours he hosted to benefit Boulder Crest Retreat that I came to understand his passion for BCR and their support of our warfighters. Like a number of you, I happily wrote checks... at first to see the Gray Room, later to support Jim, and now to support the Combat Vets and First Responders Boulder Crest serves. Well... Jim's passion became my passion and I eventually joined their Board of Directors, a role that I currently serve in today.

Jim Schatz (right) and Ken Falke (Boulder Crest Founder) talk during a Gray Room visit.

As I see it, two of my key responsibilities while on the board are friend raising and fundraising. With those responsibilities in mind, I’m starting this thread to raise awareness of Boulder Crest amongst this community and to raise some money for Boulder Crest with an auction of unique items, mostly HK and many from Jim himself. Some of these items come from my collection, but many were donated by another collector who wishes to remain anonymous. He is a patriot and supporter of our combat vets… and I want to publicly say “Thank You”.

Before I get to the auction items, I want to share some links and invite you to a special virtual event. The first link is to the Boulder Crest website. Next are a couple of Videos that sum up what the organization is, and what we do for our warfighters and first responders. Please take some time to watch a brief video that tells The Boulder Crest Story and another that talks about our Warrior PATHH program that helps our participants navigate their journeys of post traumatic growth.

On Thursday, June 25th, we will host a one hour Zoom call to discuss Boulder Crest and our special guest speaker is Retired Navy Master Chief Petty Officer and SEAL, Ed Byers.

Master Chief Byers was awarded the Medal of Honor in 2016 for his courageous actions while serving as part of an elite SEAL team that rescued an American Civilian doctor who was being held hostage in Afghanistan. They rescued the doctor, but Ed and his teammates lost their friend, Chief Petty Officer Nicolas Checque during the fight.

I have had the privilege to hear Ed speak, and promise you will not be disappointed seeing him on Zoom and hearing his message. Ed’s Medal of Honor Citation is attached below along with a save-the-date.

Ken Falke, Boulder Crest Founder, will talk about how Boulder Crest continues to help Veterans and First Responders and will discuss some programs that were recently run to help frontline workers who are suffering the effects of the pandemic. Many of these people are now feeling the pain of post-traumatic stress that they incurred while helping others.

If you have an interest in joining the Zoom meeting, please PM me your name and email ASAP. I will then have a paperless post invitation emailed to you. Details for the Zoom meeting will be sent out early next week to those who register via the invitation.

OK… On to the auction to benefit Boulder Crest. Below are links to the GunBroker auction lots. Please take a look, ask if you have questions, and bid with the beneficiaries in mind! There will be no handling of payment by me… Instead, I will provide the winners and anyone who wants to make a gift a link to give directly to Boulder Crest. That way you have a paper trail for tax deductibility and corporate matching purposes, if applicable. Once the winners make their donations to Boulder Crest and send me evidence of the donation, I will ship out the items. I will cover the GunBroker fees, but the shipping is on you. If anyone would like to donate items for inclusion, please PM me. The auctions end the evenings of the 28th & 29th.

Thank you for supporting Boulder Crest, our veterans and first responders!
    Rob

Awesome stuff brother, this is a great thing you're doing.

On another note, that G11 mug and pin will not be selling for the paltry $10 bid that was up there.......whoever that is winning the bid at the moment may get it, but I promise you I will make them pay.

Great effort on your part to get the word out again about this unique charity event. Jim would have been very happy to see it being continued.
Also, cool to see so many old school H&K items.

What kind of jerk would bid $10 for a G11 mug and pin that belonged to Jim?

In fairness, that was just the opening bid. His opening bid was actually much higher, I kept slapping in bids and ran it up to $105 and didn't manage to over bid him.
