Default Anyone had a DLC treatment done?

There's almost no information online about anyone who has done a DLC treatment to an HK, at least I couldn't find one.
Has anyone here ever had this done? Would like to see any reports of coating failure, does the .005" thickness affect threaded barrel fitment?
    Thanks!

    I’ve had several 1911s done.

    All were done by IonBond.

No issues and the coatings are so thin you could coat a bit and fine threaded screw and it will not affect tolerances.

    Proceed with confidence.

I had my P7 carry piece coated in satin DiamondBlack DLC about five years ago. It's a great hard-wearing finish. The coating is only microns thick (you forgot a zero–0.0005") so you won't have any issues at all with your threaded barrel.

Have a very heavily modified Browning Hi-Power done in DLC Diamond Black, beautiful finish, it's super thin, you won't have any issues. It is expensive, $435 to have the entire Hi-Power finished. Grip screws were also finished, they thread in very smoothly.

    What model of H&K?

HK 45ct, I was thinking of just coating the barrel. I know a lot of people like the distressed used look... I get it, but I prefer as clean of a look as possible. Anyone with an HK knows how the barrel coating wears rather quickly and I'm not digging the TiN on an HK. So I was considering DLC to maintain as close to stock as possible with better functionality/less wear from regular use.

IonBond will still wear away in the high load areas of the barrel and will look as it does now with a few hundred rounds on it.

I hard chromed an entire top end of a USP 45 including the barrel, some of it was removed on the hood and towards the muzzle of the barrel as is normal for this particular pistol. IonBond is not any harder or corrosion resistant than hard chrome.

No finish will eliminate that, no matter how hard, I would not bother, unless the HK45C will no longer be shot.

    Just saying...

Evolution Armory will do the IonBond if you want it done.

if you shoot it or carry it finish wear is inevitable.......

A big fan of DLC & TiN, while not a HK this is my IDPA gun, has 5k rounds through it and probably an equal number of holster draws with practice. The frame and slide are DLC and the barrel TiN. I'd say it wears pretty good, the controls aren't even worn like my second favorite Sig nitron...

As for tolerances I guess I'd wonder how they remove the old finish?

If that is what the finish looks like after 5k rounds etc, I'm impressed. As for Kost's mention of hood and barrel wear; that's where I was interested, on this particular HK pistol, having a satin dlc done.
Beautiful finish btw on that pistol!
