    Default Wolfman or Omega 9K?

Help me decide on a tri-lug can for my Zenith clone.

Down to two: O9K vs. Wolfman. Pros/Cons for both.

Convince me one way or the other?

Thanks in advance for your experience and expertise!

I bought the Wolfman before trying the O9K. Subguns need volume. The O9K is really small, literally the size of a muzzle device, but it was a disappointment suppression wise. The Phoenix was impressive.

Hopefully the Wolfman compares well to the Phoenix. I bought the Wolfman due to the stainless steel construction and light-duty rifle capability.

It’s a standard trade off of shorter/lighter, but less suppression, for longer/heavier, and more suppression. Even in its short configuration, the Wolfman is longer/heavier than the 9K, but has better suppression, plus has an endcap that can take a wipe. The 9K is listed at 131.5 dB per SilencerCo, while the Wolfman is rated at 122.1 full length, 129 short, and 125.9 short with wipe. Personally, I prefer better suppression, so I went with the Wolfman for my 9mm PCCs. Before that, I was using an Obsidian 45.

I believe that apples to apples testing has shown the Omega 9k to be better vs. the wolfman in short configuration.

I went with the wolfman for a AR 9mm, but I now use it on my mp5 as well, it will probably replace my trident that's been permanent on the mp5. it actually got me back to shooting the mp5 more

couple things i really like about it.

    1. its modular. its nice to go short for weight or long if you run it on a subgun with best sound
    2. it has a wipe. It does help a little when its in the short configuration.
    3. its heavy duty so f/a is not a big deal to worry about
    4. it can be shorter than the 9k
    5. i would rather deal with DA than Sico

weight might be a factor but its more robust than other options.

so vs the 9k, if you want a dedicated can and never to be switched get the 9k. It's cheaper and just a little longer than the short wolfman and will sound slightly better. If you want to run the can on other stuff or want a little better suppression with the long version, get the wolfman.

it is but its also longer than the short wolfman, and then there is the wipe which does help. Doesn't last long but it does help.

Huh? According to the Silencerco page, the 9K is 4.7” long. According the the DA page, the Wolfman is 5.13” long in the short configuration. Sure you aren’t confusing the Wolfman with the earlier Wolf-9SD that is 4.1 long in the short configuration?

Im a little confused myself. Im also on the fence between these two suppressors and am going to hold off until after SHOT to make a decision in case something new comes out.
I was under the impression that the Wolfman was quieter in the short configuration albeit a little longer and heavier than the 9K. Im hoping to hear from somebody who has shot both for a side by side comparison.

lol those are no mount lengths.

Do you own any of them?

the old Sico external mount adds about 1.25" which added to the can dimensions (internal volume) vs a wolfmann shorter 3 lug (internally mounted).

New sico shorter mount is internal, adds to loudness vs wolfmann short can (Volume).

but I'm sure you read it on the internet
