    Default Murray Urbach guns?

So I have a lead on a Murray Urbach built hk53. What are peoples opinions on this build, should I go for it or should I just buy the 93, a parts kit and have someone else build it. If I do the from scratch build, who do people suggest?

Murray's work is some of the best. His lead times... Not so much. If it's a good price... don't hesitate to buy an already existing build.

Murray was the best, I believe he is retired. But he may well have been the best H&K smith ever. Mike Woodward at TSC certainly holds his work in extremely high regard, and that's who I would have do the build from scratch.

I wouldn’t hesitate to buy one of Murray’s builds. As for starting from scratch, I’d talk to Mike Woodward at TSC. Mike has done 5 guns for me, a 93 to 53 being among them and each is a work of art.

Verify it’s an Urbach gun. I’ve known of quite a few guns being sold as “Urbach” yet he never touched them.

Urbach Precision Manufacturing, Garland TX on the NFA form/gun.

As others said, he was the best.

Murray did my SP89 to MP5K-N conversion about 15 years ago. Installed a barrel he made, and did the paddle mag, engraving and refinishing. I think it was about $1000, all told. He did a great job in like 60 days. If he did the work I’m sure you’ll be happy with it.
