    I patiently await your report.

No speculation. All fact. Hopefully accompanied by numerous photo's.

    I love that concept.

So I cleaned this up. I genuinely would like to have something nice for once and see how this turns out. Don't jack that up for me, I've spent too much time underway and sometimes it's nice to just see something different/cool.

Just let this one go and behave gents. Thank you.

That is a fantastic set up. I am looking to do something similar with my MR556 with the factory barrel. What is the power on that scope? Can’t wait to here what the 20 inch barrel will do.

3-20x50mm Ultra Short. It's just what I had available...waiting to be put to use on another project.

The short answer for the 20" barreled 416 ballistics is that well...416's seem to be slow. Not devastatingly, but not as fast as their milspec counterparts...its evident in the 14.5's as well as the 20". While a variety of ammo was shot including some very impressive Ruag ammo, my control was Black Hills factory 77SMK 5.56 (I don't bother with reloading .223/5.56...I have neither the time nor the patience for that).

Accuracy wise, the 20" would meet or exceed that of my best 18" SPR in group size, but would be marginally slower and register muzzle velocities below my 18" guns but above 16". Thus the limiting factor is not the accuracy of the rifle, but is susceptibility of the bullet to the atmospherics and one's ability to judge correctly in achieving an acceptable hit ratio on appropriate target size under acceptable field conditions (to include normal margin of error in wind call)...if that means anything to you.

With that, I'll leave you to your Kool-Aid and your AR15.com 30,000 post heros.

500 yards all day long but wind starts to become quite the factor for the casual shooter.

But I know folk who shoot 1000 yards with 5.56/handloads no problem. Can probably do it with commercial ammo if you can find a good bullet.

Some guy hit 1500 yds at NETT with .223

Yeah... I meant start this off as a wide AR comparison starting off with this, but between a few threads getting nuked and the general BS here, I said **** it...no point in wasting my time.

But, if you’d only post it elsewhere... .

The intended original concept write up would be great to see!
