    Default Insight m2 holster questions

    Hello

I just picked up a usp 40 with an insight m2 UTL off gunbroker.

I want to get a carry holster for it.

I found a place that will make one if I send it in.

What are the odds it would get damaged during the kydex holster forming process? Is that likely?

I doubt it will get damaged. Odds are, they'll tape it in the forming process. Putting the gun in and out will cause some wear, but nothing substantial. Think of if as character!

Definitely! I don’t mind holster wear, more concerned about potential damage from fitting depending how it’s done (heat etc) sounds like it won’t be an issue.

Nope, no issue. The kydex is heated off the gun and pressed around it. It'll be fine, promise!

Great. I’ll send it in to KT Mech then when I get it.

    Thanks!

Will do when I get them. I’ll make a post with my small but growing HK collection.

I wouldn't worry about the m2 since its a sturdy light, but with cheaper lights the holstering and unholstering process can be the most damaging.

The problem with "light bearing" Kydex holsters is that they retention mostly on the light itself. The trigger guard has to be covered over so that the light can pass through the holster. The only spot you can really get retention on the actual gun, is the chamber.

I was making a few hk45ct holsters for the TLR-7a and learned a lot about this.
