That’s messed up. I’ve been having this happen to me on HK91s. I’ve been keeping track of Serial #’s. They pop up again In a little over 2 weeks from a different sellers name.

Never new that it was called “Shill” bidding, I knew it happened, but yeah, I agree it looks pretty obvious.

Hmmmmm wonder if this ends up being relisted..... I mean it did end with the buyer being a NR.

I mean......WHAT are the odds? You bid one time, you're a NR, and YOU WIN!!!!!!!! <roll eyes>

I agree with a shill bidder. If so, seller Bigdeezguns just paid a hefty GunBroker fee for having his Bro-n-law bid at the last moment to see if they couldn't squeak out a few more dollars on a legit bidder. Yes, lets watch out for this one to reappear in the next few weeks...

I see that the item was a No Reserve item but, what does "the buyer being a NR" mean in respect to the buyer?

He’s never been rated by anyone as being a seller or a buyer. People don’t join GB unless they intend on doing one or the other. All the NR’s that bid on the listing in my mind were shill bidders. And there were many. What a shame.

Not really. What the Seller probably does is put in a claim to GB that the sale did not go through. An email then goes out to the bidder explaining the no-sale claim and for him to chime in if that is not correct. If the buyer does not report back then the fee is removed for the Seller. That's how a shill Seller avoids the fee and can keep doing this over and over.

I only know of this because I bought an item one time that the Seller messed up on the price (nib SP5K and had it listed $1k under fmv). I thought I scored big time. He contacted me within 5mins to explain he entered the wrong price and could not honor the sale and would understand if I gave him an F rating. I understood and let it go. A few days later I got the email of no-sale and did not dispute it. In my case it was just an innocent typing error, but I think this is how a shill Seller must be circumventing the Seller fee.
