Public reaction to the recent spate of mass shootings is what's driving the insanity in the VA legislature. If anything, liberals don't understand that more stringent gun control laws do nothing but encourage the demand for firearms. And even if the idiotic Dems in VA got their way, they cannot guarantee VA won't be the scene for the next mass shooting. VA's efforts are self defeating, and quite dumb.

I believe this is actually not simply ignorance. No doubt ignorance is a part of what is driving their response. The bigger driver is more sinister: They are very cognizant that removing guns from society is a mechanism of control over those they most detest and fear. Many of the folks voting for the politicians and their policies are just ill informed, not so much their political leaders.

Those calling for more gun “control” are also generally collectivists who have little regard for individual freedom. They will always sacrifice your freedoms for the (their) collective good, or what they determine to be that good. At some point when they are done there will be no more freedom, just a mass of people directed by their betters in government.

Truly they will prevent many crimes (presumably in action movies) with the banning of machineguns, SBRs, and suppressors. It's amazing how those always seem to turn up on the far-reaching bans.
