I am interested to know if anyone actually has or has seen one of these holsters before:

Helmet Tire Wheel Squad Military uniform

It can be found in many black and white 70s photos of GSG9. When a GSG9 officer has a P9S this holster is usually on their belt. I am curious to know, has anyone ever seen one of these holsters? I am trying to determine if this was a commercial product made in limited quantities for GSG9 or if it was more prevalent and also used by the Bundesgrenzschutz and Polizei.

It is very similar to this pistol pouch that was used by the BGS/Polizei. They were likely manufactured in the same place but with the GSG9 holster being more streamlined and removing the flap. They appear to share some dimensions, the position of a rivet, and the correct timeframe in the early to mid 70s:

This pistol pouch itself is difficult to come by and the GSG9 holster bears nothing unique enough to identify it as a GSG9 holster. In fact, the GSG9 holster is so nondescript and generic that it would be difficult to even identify it as a P9 holster if one didn't know.

It does look similar to the flap holster pictured but instead of a flap, the leather wraps around the frame under the slide and, based on the piece of leather visible behind the slide, it looks to me like it has a thumb-break style of retention. That feature might help you zero in on what you’re looking for. Old school, for sure. Good luck with your search.

Is it just me, or are those helmets reminiscent of WWII Fallschirmjaeger helmets?
THAT is exactly what they look like. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were old World War II inventory that they had upgraded chin straps put on….

They are postwar helmets made from a slightly different material but with the same tooling that the original helmets were made from. The helmet presses and dies that fell in West German hands were not immediately destroyed and used to produce these. The straps and chin cup are a variation from Bundeswehr Fallschirmjäger helmets.
