wow, at only twice the cost of the oem factory plate.
Still cheaper than anything currently available and they are Steel not aluminum. At least we were willing to step up and make them available for those that have been waiting for 6+ months now. If you want a cheaper option we have aluminum plates hitting in the next several days.

I'm glad to see billeted steel plate option. Of course it's more expensive than than the aluminum OEM.

What’s the weight difference between the steel and aluminum version?

What’s the weight difference between the steel and aluminum version?
The steel optics mount is ~.9oz
The alloy optics paste is ~ .3oz
In total overall weight the aluminum is 1/3 the weight of steel. You can tell the difference big time when you are holding them in each hand. Both offerings do the job and both have pros and cons. This is why we are committed to offering a wide selection of flavors, materials and designs with the VP9 OR optic plates. There is much in the works and near completion in this regard.

What's the benefit of aluminum vs the steel? Is steel more durable?
The steel is stronger for sure and also much heavier in weight. The optic housings are made from aluminum and take more of the abuse and in our findings the aluminum plate hold up just fine. Some prefer the aluminum while others prefer the steel. It comes down to a matter of preference. There is enough of each type in use and in the wild to say that both are good platforms to go with.
