Do anyone know if HK ever is to make 223. version of the 416 rifle?

The 416 is in .223 caliber, the 417 is 7.62mm.

I truly wonder if not being allowed to have a 416 has caused all this interest. If HK was selling them here, most likely people would be lining up to bitch about this and that about them. Look at the SIG 556 as an example.

Its safe to use the .223 in a 5.56mmx45 NATO, or the .308 in a 7.6mm2x51 NATO, but not the other way around.

The NATO rounds i think are higher pressured, but regular .223 will work fine with any 5.56mm gun.

While 5.56x45 (NATO) runs at higher presures than .223 Remington, I believe .308 Winchester actually operates at higher pressures than 7.62x51 (NATO).

Although the 5.56 NATO is a higher pressured round than the .223 Remington the case isn´t the same with 7.62x51 NATO,.308 Winchester rounds actually operate at higher pressures than the 7.62NATO.

Hey Tony, nice to see I have been missed..I haven stuck in a office in Paris around 20/7 but are now about to get some time off..and time to come back and bug the F' out of you guys!
